Day by Day Itinerary
Depart for Hungary.
Arrive in Budapest, the capital city of Hungary that straddles the Danube River, with the Buda Hills to the west and Pest to the east; transfer to your hotel. The balance of the day is at leisure. This evening, enjoy a Welcome Drink and orientation with your Tour Manager and fellow travelers followed by dinner at your hotel.
Overnight: Budapest.
Meals: Dinner.
The morning tour begins in Pest with a chance to view the Parliament, Royal Palace and Heroes' Square. Cross the Danube River on the Elizabeth Bridge into the Buda Hills. See Gellert Hill, then continue to Castle Hill to visit the 13th century Matthias Coronation Church. From Fisherman's Bastion, enjoy a panoramic view of the city. Afternoon is at leisure for individual pursuits or, join the optional tour of the splendid interior of the Parliament, St. Stephen's Basilica and the historic Great Market Hall.* Tonight perhaps choose the optional Danube Cruise that includes dinner.
*Parliament, St. Stephen’s & Great Market Hall is not available for May 19th, 2018 departure. Be advised that you might not be able to book this optional tour locally, due to certain restrictions regarding the Parliament.

After breakfast, depart the Hungarian capital for the tranquil shores of Lake Balaton, a popular area where the locals spend their weekends, continuing into Croatia and its capital, Zagreb. Start the city tour with your local guide in busy Kaptol Square in Upper Town, dominated by the monumental Zagreb Cathedral, with its soaring twin spires, its cobblestone streets and red tile roofed buildings. View St. Mark's Church with its brightly colored roof, the 17th century Jesuit Church of St. Catherine and the Parliament building. Conclude with a walking tour in the winding streets of the Old Town and Ban Jelacic, the main square. Later, take a leisurely stroll along Ilica Street, packed with restaurants, trendy cafes and a vibrant shopping scene.

This morning, cross into Slovenia and head to the flourishing capital, Ljubljana. A local expert will lead you on a sightseeing tour of the city and its monuments. There will be time for lunch on your own, to soak up the laid back atmosphere of this refreshing city. Afterward, view the open-air market, City Hall, Robba Fountain, the Three Bridges, and the Parliament. Continue to the resort town of Bled, where you will explore the tranquil emerald green lake on a boat trip to the Island with the church dedicated to the Assumption of Mary and views of Bled Castle. This beautiful resort lies in the heart of the Julian Alps.

A full day at leisure to enjoy this delightful resort. Walk the lovely lakeshore or, perhaps take the optional excursion to see two of the wonders of the country. The renowned, UNESCO listed Postonja caves, a huge network of passages, galleries and chambers, the largest show cave in Europe and the impressive Predjama castle, perched high on a cliff. Tonight, perhaps attend the optional Slovenian Festive Dinner.

Travel through the dramatic Dolomite mountain range and venture briefly into Italy en route to the mighty Brenner Pass and Austria’s Tyrol. Upon arrival in Innsbruck, admire fine examples of Imperial splendor. Journey back in time with an array of impressive architectural gems from the Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque and Neoclassical period. On your orientation tour, stop at the Golden Roof, overlooking a bustling square in the heart of historic Innsbruck and the Wilten Basilica, one of the most splendid churches in Tyrol with its stunning rococo decorations. Innsbruck has also hosted two Olympic Winter Games (1964 and 1976). See the famous ski jump used in the Winter Olympics. Tonight, experience an authentic Tyrolean evening on the optional tour featuring a varied entertainment program including folk music, Tyrolean dances and yodeling.

This morning cross into Germany at the town of Mittenwald and admire the Bavarian mountains as you pass the ski resort of Garmish Partenkirchen in the shadow of Germany’s highest mountain, the Zugspitze. Next, a highlight tour of Mad King Ludwig’s Linderhof Castle built to rival the splendor of Europe’s royal palaces, with an ornate interior. Continue to the fairytale village of Oberammergau with time for lunch amidst the pretty wooden chalets with flower-filled balconies. Finally arrive in Munich, the vibrant German city, famous for its annual Oktoberfest celebration and home to BMW!.

This morning drive past the Olympic Stadium situated in the heart of Olympia Park in northern Munich built as the main venue for the 1972 Summer Olympics. Continue for a photo stop at the breathtaking Nymphenburg Palace, once the summer residence of the rulers of Bavaria, decorated with a gorgeous baroque façade. Driving through the city, you see countless museums, galleries, palaces and historic monuments. Arrive at Marienplatz square, a cultural center of the city, dominated by the gothic New Town Hall housing Munich's world-famous Glockenspiel, which dates back to 1908. This colorful mechanical clock has life-size figures that dance to music with shows several times a day. This afternoon an optional tour shows you the dark history of the last century, with a chilling visit to the Dachau Memorial Concentration Camp. Tonight, enjoy dinner together.

Depart Germany and travel to the capital of the Czech Republic, Prague - "The City of a Thousand Spires". Upon arrival, check into your hotel. Balance of the day is at leisure for individual pursuits. Perhaps explore unique galleries, museums and stroll along Parizska street, the city’s famous shopping district. Tonight, try traditional Czech cuisine at one of the many world-class restaurants in Prague.

This morning's sightseeing will include a walking tour of the Lesser Town and the Old Town, viewing the 14th century Charles Bridge, with its 30 baroque statues of various saints. From here, admire the view of Prague Castle. Continue through the Old Town Square to view the famous Old Town Hall Tower & Astronomical Clock*, Municipal House, Powder Tower and the Jewish Quarter. The rest of the day is at leisure or, join the optional afternoon tour to the hilltop Prague Castle complex, former residence of Bohemian kings and to the magnificent St. Vitus Cathedral, where kings were crowned and battles were fought. Experience spectacular vistas of the entire city below. This evening, enjoy a Farewell Dinner at a local restaurant.
